Compton Unified School District’s Board of Trustees Appoints
New Superintendent Darin Brawley


      Compton Unified School District’s (CUSD) Board of Trustees announced the appointment of Darin Brawley as the District’s new Superintendent, Tuesday, September 11, during its regularly scheduled meeting.

      The Board unanimously approved Mr. Brawley’s hiring during its August 28 board meeting and he will begin serving the District immediately.

For the past three years Brawley has served as the Adelanto Elementary School District’s Superintendent where he presided over the educational progress of students, Grades K thru 8. Prior to his position as Superintendent, Brawley served as the Deputy Superintendent of Student Learning. During his time in his previous school district, Brawley was responsible for exiting five schools from program improvement. In addition to this, several schools received Title I Performing Schools recognition and California Distinguished School Awards.

      His experience in education includes the following; high school science teacher, middle school Assistant Principal, elementary Principal, middle school Principal, Director of Human Resources, Executive Director of Human Resources, Deputy Superintendent of Student Learning and Superintendent.

      Concerning his new role, he describes it as “a welcome opportunity to work collaboratively with our community of stakeholders.” He says as the new Superintendent, he is looking forward to forging community partnerships to accomplish the core mission of student learning.
